The The World Wide Web (WWW), commonly known as the Web, is an information system where documents and other web resources are identified by Uniform Resource Locators (URLs, such as https://example.com/ ), which may be interlinked by hyperlinks, and are accessible over the Internet.

While a website is a set of related web pages located under a single domain name, typically produced by a single person or organization.

Let me explain in a simple way, the web is the earth for example and websites would be the countries ,and these countries and made up of states just like the web pages that makes up website.

Domain name

A domain name is a component of a uniform resource locator (URL) used to access web sites, for example: URL: https://google.com.To begin a website ,you would need a domain but before that you should know how to build a website.

Internet is basically a giant network of computers connected to each other through cables. To easily identify them, each computer is assigned a series of numbers called IP Address.
This IP address is a combination of numbers separated with dots. Typically, IP addresses look like this: 77.345.66.1
Computers have no problem identifying and remembering these numbers. However, it is impossible for humans to remember and use these numbers to connect to websites on the internet. To solve this problem, domain names were invented.
A domain name can have words which makes it easy to remember website addresses. Now if you wanted to visit a website on the internet, you don’t need to type a string of numbers. Instead, you can type in an easy to remember domain name, for example, Google.com.

Websites can be classified into two :

1. Static website
2. Dynamic website

Static websites are websites that are fixed and display the same content for every user, usually written exclusively in HTML. A dynamic website, on the other hand, is one that can display different content and provide user interaction, by making use of advanced programming and databases in addition to HTML.
Dynamic websites are websites which are dynamic .For example a chatting website,a game website,a website that deals with sign up and logins.While Static websites are like news websites,some blogs are static too,website that gives global informations and so on.
Knowing the type of website you want would be nice.

Web hosting

After buying a Domain name ,you needto host your website.Hosting makes your website online.Web hosting is the place where all the files of your website live. It is like the home of your website where it actually lives.

When someone enters your domain name in a browser, the domain name is translated into the IP address of your web hosting company’s computer. This computer contains your website’s files, and it sends those files back to the users’ browsers.Some companies offer Domain purchasing and also offer hosting together.Examples of such companies are:

Hosting of websites can also be classified:

1. Shared hosting

shared web hosting service is a web hosting service where many websites reside on one web server connected to the Internet. This is generally the most economical option for hosting, as the overall cost of server maintenance is spread over many customers. By choosing shared hosting, the website will share a physical server with one or more other websites.
Shared hosting i s easily the cheapest and most economical option for your needs. However, the cheap price comes with limitations, which we’ll get to below. Since most hosting companies will offer the same amount of space and storage it’s important to choose a company you can trust.
It is usually the best for startup.It has its advantages as well as disadvantages.

2. Virtual Private Servers (VPS)

VPS is short for a Virtual Private Server. VPS hosting is one of the most popular hosting services you can choose for your website. It uses virtualization technology to provide you with dedicated (private) resources on a server with multiple users.
It’s a more secure and stable solution than shared hosting where you don’t get a dedicated server space. However, it’s smaller-scale and cheaper than renting an entire server.
VPS hosting is usually chosen by website owners who have medium-level traffic that exceeds the limits of shared hosting plans but still don’t need the resources of a dedicated server.

3. Dedicated servers

Dedicated servers are the best option for large companies that require dedicated space and memory. With this kind of hosting, a single company’s web and email files are stored up in a whole server. It is like owning your own home with your own compound. Flexibility, performance, and security are usually very reliable in dedicated hosting.

To build a website you will need both a domain name and web hosting account. Buying a domain name alone only gives you right to use that particular domain name for a specific period (usually 1 year).
You need web hosting to store your website’s files. After you get hosting, you need to update your domain name settings and point it to your web hosting service provider.
